These skulls are made of mushroom mycelium grown on hemp. It is an incredibly lightweight material and is being developed around the world as an alternative to polystyrene.

We made these little mushroom mycelium skulls for the collector of curiosities, for the skull collector or just for the sake of it!

It has a coating made of a natural corn based ingredient for protection. Being a natural material, makes each piece is unique, with its own colour and texture that develops when the material is growing. Each skull has its natural perfect imperfections.

When you buy one of these little skulls we will select one at random and send it to you in a beautiful hexagonal cardboard box.

Mushroom as Material

Mariana has been experimenting with mushroom material as a sustainable alternative to plastics and foams. With the firm belief that mushrooms can and will save the world, she works with different mushroom strains and explores the possibilities that this material has to offer.

Mushroom mycelium is incredibly versatile and offers many possibilities as a bio-material. From insulating houses, to making surfboards, for product padding and even mushroom leather. It is 100% biodegradable and fire resistant and so the possibilities for mushroom mycelium are endless. Many biotechnology companies and artists are exploring this new revolutionizing material.
